Reference Message Network reported on May 10 that according to a report by EFE News on May 9, in an interview report published on the 9th, Brazilian Planning Minister Simone Tabet said that Brazil will discuss with China the construction of a railway to connect Brazil with the money port which was put into operation last year in Peru.

In the interview, Tabet pointed out that this railway project will connect Brazil with the money port through Acre State near the border with Bolivia and extend all the way to Bahia State on the Atlantic coast.

Tabet expressed her "great optimism" about the project and hoped that President Lula's state visit to China in the coming days would "bring good news".

Tabet emphasized that China is not only "very interested" in this plan but also "very interested" in all integration projects that Brazil is currently building to improve road connections with neighboring countries.

Some export sectors in Brazil, such as soy exporters, are concerned about the over-reliance on the Santos Port located on the coast of São Paulo.

The port's exports account for about one-third of Brazil's total exports, imposing serious constraints on foreign trade. (Compiled/ Wang Meng)
