[Text by Guancha Observer, Lin Chenli] Local time on June 5th, Musk openly fell out with Trump and engaged in a verbal spat. Musk posted that Trump's name was "in Epstein's files," and stated that this was the real reason why the relevant files have not been made public. Later in the evening on the 6th, Trump responded to Musk's accusations.
On that day, Trump reposted a tweet from American lawyer David Schoen on the "Truth Social" platform, which read: "Nine days before Epstein's death, I was hired as his criminal defense attorney and led his defense team. For months prior to that, he had been seeking legal advice from me. I can authoritatively, definitively, and positively say that he had no information that could be detrimental to President Trump. I specifically asked him about this!"

It is understood that Schoen once served as Epstein's defense lawyer, and in 2021, he also served as one of the defense lawyers for Trump's second impeachment trial as president.
Epstein was a financier who had close ties with many prominent figures in American politics and business. He transformed his private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands into an "adult paradise" for the elite to enjoy, with numerous minors becoming victims.
In July 2019, Epstein was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to traffic and sexually abuse underage girls. He was found dead in a New York prison on August 10th of the same year, with the medical examiner ruling his death as suicide. At the time, Trump was serving as president, and he denied any connection to Epstein's sex trafficking, stating that he "knew Epstein, just like everyone else in Palm Beach," but that he had "broken off relations with him a long time ago."
In 2024, during his presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly claimed that if elected, the client list of Epstein's "Lolita Island" would be made public. On February 27th of this year, the U.S. Department of Justice finally released the first batch of documents related to Epstein's case, but the documents contained no substantial content. Netizens and even members of Congress expressed "disappointment" and criticized the Department of Justice and the FBI for hiding the truth.
In the tweet on June 5th, Musk did not specify how he knew that Trump was involved in Epstein's case or provide his sources.
Previously, US media analysts pointed out that the appearance of certain names in court documents does not mean that these people were involved in Epstein's sex trafficking organization; it only indicates that they had interactions. Trump's name also appeared in the documents, but due to his already close ties with Epstein, this did not cause much controversy.
In response to Musk's accusations, White House press secretary Laiweitte responded on May 5th, saying: "This is a regrettable incident for Elon, as he is dissatisfied with the 'Big Beautiful Bill' because it does not include policies he personally desires. The president's focus is on pushing through this historic bill to make America great again."
