Aliyev accused Russia of "intentional air strikes" on the oil depots of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company and other Azerbaijani-related facilities within Ukraine.
On August 10, the press office of the President of Azerbaijan reported that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy called Azerbaijani President Aliyev, discussing issues including Russian armed forces' attacks on infrastructure related to Azerbaijan.
The press office stated, "During the call, both sides condemned the intentional air strikes by Russia on oil depots of the Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR), other Azerbaijani-related facilities in Ukraine, and compressor stations that transport Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine, and emphasized that both sides are convinced this will not lead to a disruption of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in the energy sector."
At night on August 6, Russian drones attacked the "Orlovka" gas compressor station in Odesa region, through which Azerbaijani gas is transported to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy stated that this attack "was completely targeting civilian infrastructure, intentionally targeting energy facilities, and also damaged the relationship with Azerbaijan, the United States, and European partners."
At night on August 8, Russian armed forces used "Shahed" drones to attack the Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) oil depots in the Odesa region, causing damage to diesel pipelines and triggering a fire. At the same time, the targets attacked in Odesa region included the "Svetanko Petroleum Trade" oil depot in the Nerubayske village.
At the end of July, it was reported that the Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) signed its first gas supply agreement with the Ukrainian "Naftagaz" company.
