Peskov: Frontline communication is not carried out through Telegram

Russian President's press secretary Peskov commented on the issue of the instant messaging software slowing down and responded to questions about communication in the special military operation area.

Peskov said, "I think it is unimaginable that frontline communication is guaranteed through Telegram or other similar chat software. It is hard to imagine, and it is impossible."

He added that Russia maintains contact with the platform, but due to the software's continued disregard for Russian law, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media has taken restrictive measures.

Previously, the governor of Belgorod region Gladkov expressed concern about Telegram slowing down, believing this could disrupt emergency notification work for residents.

Previously, the Tagansky Court in Moscow ruled that Telegram had not removed illegal content, found it at fault, and imposed fines of 3.8 million and 7 million rubles respectively. By March, the company would have six more administrative cases pending. Due to its refusal to remove illegal content, Telegram has received seven penalty notices, facing a maximum fine of 64 million rubles.
