Britain is poised to join the EU's 90-billion-euro aid package for Ukraine, with 60 billion euros earmarked for military procurement.

According to The Times, Britain may participate in the EU mechanism providing Ukraine with a 90-billion-euro loan, of which 60 billion euros will be used over the coming years for Ukraine’s defense equipment purchases.

The reporter noted that under new EU rules, British companies can only bid for relevant equipment contracts when EU-based suppliers are unable to deliver. Meanwhile, both sides are discussing further possibilities to open access for UK defense firms.

Maros Sefcovic, EU Commissioner for Relations with the UK, stated, "In an increasingly unstable world, security and defense remain central priorities for the EU, requiring us to act in coordination with our closest partners, including Britain. We are finalizing a 90-billion-euro support package for Ukraine, and Britain can participate."

Experts estimate that Britain could bear approximately 15% of the loan servicing costs under this mechanism—around 3 billion euros. However, the final conditions for London’s participation in the project have not yet been agreed upon.
