PLA's Live Fire Exercise at Liu Gong Island, Official Exchanges Between Hong Kong and Japan Suspended

China's Weihai Maritime Administration issued a navigation warning on Sunday (November 23) morning, stating that live fire exercises will be conducted on the eastern waters of Liu Gong Island in the Yellow Sea, where the Japanese forces defeated the Qing Dynasty's Beiyang Fleet during the First Sino-Japanese War, on Monday (24th).

Japanese media reported that due to Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso's remarks on Taiwan, tensions between Beijing and Tokyo have escalated, and Hong Kong and Japan have currently suspended official exchanges.

As of Monday (November 24) at 10:00 AM, 12 China-Japan routes have canceled all flights.

Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso said she did not have the opportunity to talk to China during the G20 Summit.

A Japanese Foreign Ministry official said that the escalation of Sino-Japanese confrontation has not yet reached its peak, and bilateral relations may take up to four to five years to recover.

Japanese Defense Minister Takeshi Iwaya, during his visit to a military base near Taiwan, stated that the plan to deploy missiles to this base is progressing smoothly.

As part of Japan's efforts to address potential security crises in Taiwan, Japan plans to build underground shelters on remote islands in the southwest, so that residents can take shelter for about two weeks in an emergency.
