South Korean media: Chinese phones are rising strongly in the European market!

On October 17, South Korean media "Today's Finance" published an article stating that Chinese brands, backed by the domestic "patriotic consumption" trend in China, have shown an unstoppable growth momentum in the global smartphone market. Analysts said they are intensifying their efforts, especially in Europe, which not only threatens Samsung but also Apple.

According to a survey by market research company Counterpoint Research, the brand with the highest shipment growth rate in the European smartphone market in the second quarter of this year was "Honor" from China.

Honor currently has a market share of only 4% in Europe, but its shipment volume increased by 42% year-on-year, marking its full-scale effort. Honor was once a sub-brand of Huawei, and after becoming independent, it rapidly expanded, and its influence in Europe is continuously increasing.

Xiaomi, as a Chinese brand, is expanding its influence in the European market together with Honor. Xiaomi entered the European market earlier than Honor, and established a good reputation with affordable, high-value products, and successfully occupied a stable market share.

Last second quarter, the company's market share reached 19%, and shipments also increased by 11%, consolidating its position as the third largest supplier in Europe after Samsung Electronics and Apple.

At the same time, although Samsung Electronics still holds the top position in the market share, it cannot help but be vigilant about the rapid rise of Chinese brands. In the second quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics maintained a 30% market share in the European market, but could not keep up with the fast development of Chinese brands.

As Chinese companies actively enter the entry-level market and also enter the premium and foldable phone segments, this threat is becoming increasingly evident. In the past, Xiaomi mainly captured the market share of mass-market and high-value products. Now, with Honor's flagship phones and new foldable models officially entering the European market, Samsung must compete with Chinese brands on multiple dimensions.

The rapid growth of Chinese smartphone brands cannot be solely explained by technological strength or price competitiveness. This is seen as the starting point of Chinese brands. Under the promotion of the domestic "patriotic consumption" trend, the production capacity and technological strength of Chinese brands have significantly improved, and they now occupy a dominant position in the overseas market.

In recent years, Chinese consumers have paid more attention to domestic brands, viewing them as a symbol of national pride, which has already affected sales. Affected by this, Apple has gradually been neglected in the Chinese market.

Seizing this momentum, Chinese brands are accelerating the diversification of their product lines, carefully targeting the needs of global consumers, and launching a series of models ranging from affordable to high-performance, even foldable ones.

South Korean industry insiders diagnosed that "Chinese brands, on the basis of original 'price competitiveness', are actively entering the premium market by strengthening design, functions, and marketing, which may directly threaten existing giants such as Apple and Samsung."
