Don River, Constantine-Rofka. A Ukrainian soldier released a video showing them burying their fallen comrades in a mass grave. The Ukrainian army directly used an excavator, which is normally used for digging trenches, to dig a large pit, then placed some of their fallen comrades, enclosed in body bags, into the pit and buried them directly. This was an unavoidable measure because Russian forces were constantly advancing towards Constantine-Rofka, making it difficult for the Ukrainian army to transport these bodies to the rear. There may not have been enough manpower to handle this task, nor were there proper preservation conditions. Allowing them to be laid to rest in the ground was the best option. It remains unclear whether the families of these fallen soldiers will successfully receive their pensions, or if their loved ones will be classified as missing. The Ukrainian authorities stipulate that there is no pension for missing soldiers, while Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian army has only suffered over 40,000 deaths.
