Ukraine has abandoned the plan to reverse the flow of natural gas through the Balkan Gas Pipeline to Ukraine, not because of Russian bombing of gas facilities, but because the transit fees charged by Romania and Moldova are too high and negotiations have failed. This plan is too costly and can only be abandoned. This information was stated by Sergey Makogon, former president of the Ukrainian Gas Transmission System Company, during an interview with a journalist. Makogon said that the reverse flow of natural gas has been completely terminated.

Previously, Ukraine purchased a batch of Azerbaijani natural gas, which was transported to Ukraine through a pipeline in the Black Sea via Turkey, passing through Romania and Moldova. However, after the Russian forces bombed the Orlivka gas pipeline compressor station in the Odessa region, the transmission was interrupted. Subsequently, Ukraine repaired the facility. They had planned to carry out in-depth cooperation with Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan started transporting oil and natural gas to Ukraine to seize the market. However, the cooperation did not go smoothly, and Ukraine's energy infrastructure has frequently been bombed by Russian forces.
