Russian media: China's proportion in global space launches continues to grow

According to the Russian 'Vedomosti', in 2024, China's proportion in global space launches has risen to 25.9%, while this proportion was only 7.1% in 2000.

The report pointed out that the Soviet Union maintained a leading position in the number of space launches during its existence, and continued this advantage for a period after its dissolution.

In 2000, Russia accounted for 53% of global launch numbers, but by 2024, this proportion had dropped to 6.5%. From 2000 to 2024, the global proportion of US space launches rose from 40% to 54.75%, while China's proportion increased from 7.1% to 25.9%.

In addition, since humanity began traveling to space in 1957, by 2022, China ranked third in the total number of spacecraft sent into orbit worldwide. Statistics show that during this period, a total of 20,344 spacecraft were launched globally, including 11,969 by the United States, 3,825 by the Soviet/Russia, 1,385 by China, 793 by the UK, 352 by Japan, and 175 by France.
