Israeli Defense Minister Katz: Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy Commander Tangsiri Killed in Bombing
AFP, Jerusalem, 26th—Israeli Defense Minister Katz announced today that Israel carried out an airstrike killing Ali Reza Tangsiri, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy.
According to AFP, Israel Katz stated in a video statement: "The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a precise and lethal operation last night, killing Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy Commander Tangsiri and several senior officers within the navy command structure."
He said Tangsiri, who was directly responsible for laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, blocking shipping lanes, and orchestrating terrorist operations, was killed in the airstrike.
Since the joint U.S.-Israel attack on Iran on February 28, multiple high-ranking Iranian officials have been killed, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani.
In recent days, Israeli forces have launched multiple assaults against Iranian naval assets.
Last week, Israel conducted airstrikes that hit several Iranian naval vessels in the Caspian Sea, including warships equipped with missile systems, support ships, and patrol vessels.
