BYD is very popular in South Korea, and selling thousands of vehicles per month is just around the corner.
South Korean media: BYD is also popular in South Korea, and monthly sales of 1,000 vehicles are within reach!
On May 30th, the South Korean media "Energy Economics" published an article stating that last month, the Chinese electric vehicle brand BYD ranked first in the sales volume of imported electric vehicles in South Korea, and it is also very popular in the South Korean market.
The industry has a forecast that reaching monthly sales of 1,000 vehicles is just around the corner. This is because there are still a large number of pre-orders waiting to be delivered, and new models such as the Seacat and Sealion are planned to be launched in the second half of the year.
According to the registration data released by the Korea Import Auto Association in April, BYD Korea's sales last month were 543 units.
After completing the calculation of electric vehicle subsidies on the 2nd day of last month, the ATTO 3 began full delivery on April 14th.
Certainly, the reason for the popularity of BYD must be its price. BYD adopted an aggressive strategy and set the price of the ATTO 3 at 31.5 million won (approximately 163,500 RMB). If subsidies are applied, it is about 8 million won (approximately 41,500 RMB) cheaper than similar-grade domestically produced South Korean electric vehicles.
With such competitive pricing, it surpassed Tesla Model Y (533 units) and Model 3 (350 units), ranking first in the South Korean imported electric vehicle market in April. Moreover, its initial momentum even outperformed competitors such as Volvo EX30 and Volkswagen ID.4.
The prospects for ATTO 3 are bright. This is because the pre-order quantity is approximately 1,500 units, with about 1,000 units yet to be sold. Therefore, it is expected that sales in May will approach 1,000 units.
Furthermore, new models will be introduced in the second half of the year. BYD plans to launch new models such as the mid-size electric sedan "Seal" and the SUV "Sealion 7" in the second half of the year.
BYD plans to increase the number of showrooms in South Korea from 15 to 30 and service centers to 25 by the end of this year, aiming to eliminate distrust of Chinese brands through high-quality services.
Cho In-cheol, CEO of BYD Korea Passenger Vehicle Division, said, "We feel very meaningful because our domestic customers can finally experience BYD's electric vehicle lifestyle. We will do our utmost to promote the popularization of electric vehicles in the South Korean market and improve consumer convenience."
