Recently, the case of Pengmuxuan, a high school graduate from Hanzhong, Shaanxi, who was lured to Myanmar and went missing, has attracted widespread attention from all sectors of society.

Today (July 19), the Wa State in Myanmar released a message on social media stating that after receiving a report about the disappearance of the Chinese high school student Peng Yuxuan, the Wa State Judicial Committee quickly activated an emergency search mechanism. After careful planning and efficient action, they successfully found the person Peng Yuxuan within the jurisdiction of the Myanmar government in Dangyang City. Currently, the Wa State Judicial Committee is working hard to handle the relevant procedures for his repatriation to China.

According to the information, in early July, the Wa State Judicial Committee learned that 19-year-old high school graduate Peng Yuxuan had gone missing near the Yunnan border, suspected to have entered Myanmar. They immediately deployed a search plan, integrated the police forces along the border, and conducted a grid-based search in areas where Peng Yuxuan might have appeared, ensuring that any clues could be quickly verified.

During the search, no trace of Peng Yuxuan was found in the Wa State. During this period, the staff of the Wa State Judicial Committee learned that a young man resembling Peng Yuxuan had been rescued by a kind local resident in Dangyang, Myanmar. The Wa State Judicial Committee immediately verified the information, and after comparing identity details and communicating with the person, confirmed that the male youth was indeed Peng Yuxuan, who had been missing for several days.

Peng Yuxuan told the staff of the Wa State Judicial Committee that after the Gaokao, he wanted to find a summer job and was lured to Yunnan's Lincang City Cangyuan County by an online friend under the pretense of a "live streaming job." He was then taken by criminals to Myanmar, transferred multiple times, and eventually entered a certain industrial park in Dangyang. Due to his age, the park's supervisor persuaded him to return, and he was sent to Dangyang by Burmese soldiers. He was then rescued by a kind-hearted man from the Wa State who was parking by the roadside and playing with his phone. The kind man took him in and contacted the Wa State Judicial Committee.

After being taken into the Wa State Judicial Committee, the committee immediately provided Peng Yuxuan with accommodation, meals, health checks, and psychological counseling to ensure his physical and mental condition remained stable. For his special circumstances, the Wa State Judicial Committee specially established a "green channel for repatriation of foreign personnel," with dedicated personnel responsible for coordinating with Chinese authorities and compiling the list of procedures required for repatriation, such as identity verification and border passage.

Currently, the Wa State Judicial Committee has completed the information registration and preliminary review of Peng Yuxuan and is in the final negotiations with the Chinese side regarding the details of cross-border handover. A relevant official of the Wa State Judicial Committee stated: "Protecting the legitimate rights and interests of every foreign person in the Wa State is our responsibility. We will complete all procedures with the highest efficiency to ensure Peng Yuxuan's safe and smooth return to China."

According to previous reports by media outlets such as Xiaoxiang Morning News, 19-year-old high school graduate Peng Yuxuan is from Hanzhong, Shaanxi. On the afternoon of July 4, 2024, he sent his last location information to his girlfriend at the Menglai Port Comprehensive Cultural Station in Cangyuan County, Lincang City, Yunnan, and then went missing. His family immediately reported the incident and sought help. According to the recollections of Peng Yuxuan's mother and relatives, Peng Yuxuan had previously met strangers on social media, who lured him to the China-Myanmar border area under the pretext of a "high-paying live streaming job" to look for summer work opportunities.

Peng Yuxuan's mother, Ms. Yang, said that after her son went missing, she received multiple calls from strangers claiming to have connections with the Burmese military, saying they could help "rescue" him but required a high ransom of 200,000 yuan. To avoid being deceived again, Ms. Yang did not make any hasty transfers. "We are just a common rural family, and we don't know what to do now."

As the incident continued to attract public attention, the disappearance has sparked widespread discussion. Multiple media outlets and anti-fraud organizations have pointed out that in recent years, lawbreakers have frequently used methods such as "online recruitment" to lure Chinese teenagers across the border to northern Myanmar, engaging them in illegal work or coercing them into detention. Especially with the arrival of summer, cases of "students being deceived abroad after the Gaokao" have shown an upward trend. Society should maintain vigilance towards the safety education of teenagers and border security governance, and must not become complacent.
