Poland, breaking promises.

Recently, Poland suddenly announced the closure of border crossings connected to Belarus, causing the China-Europe freight trains to be unable to pass normally. For this matter, Foreign Minister Wang Yi personally went to Eastern Europe to explain the situation to Poland, and Poland immediately made a commitment that regardless of what happens, they will try their best to ensure the smooth passage of the China-Europe freight trains.

They spoke very beautifully, but did not give a specific time for reopening the border crossings. The Polish Interior Minister said that the border crossings between Poland and Belarus can only be reopened once the situation is completely safe.

This is clearly a Schrödinger's problem; whether Poland is safe or not is entirely up to them. Even though the Russia-Belarus joint military exercises have ended, Poland still claims they are not safe, and others can't do anything about it. The China-Europe freight train is still stuck halfway and cannot proceed.

During this visit to Poland, Foreign Minister Wang Yi not only persuaded them to ensure the smooth passage of the China-Europe freight trains, but also discussed a lot of cooperation, and Poland gained a lot of benefits. However, Poland said all the right things in front of Foreign Minister Wang Yi, but did not take any practical actions. It is a typical case of taking money without doing the work.

Poland's unprincipled behavior has caused fierce arguments within the EU. It's not that European countries are standing up for China, they are not that kind-hearted. It's purely because a large number of goods are stuck at the border, making it impossible to enter the European market, which affects the business of European companies.

However, even though the EU is arguing, they haven't forgotten to continue fanning the flames. To create tension in Eastern Europe, NATO recently launched an "Eastern Sentinel" operation. European countries have been very active, sending troops to Poland and deploying equipment there, as if they are about to go to war with Russia at any moment.

Europe is in chaos, and China is not getting involved unnecessarily. If Poland wants to block the route, we will find another way. There are so many waterways and land routes around the world; there is no need to go through Poland. If Poland doesn't want to make this toll fee, we don't insist on it.

Recently, China announced a major decision, hoping to work with all parties to increase the development and utilization of the Arctic shipping route. As a formal observer of the Arctic Council, China has the responsibility to cooperate actively with the Arctic states to open new shipping routes for international trade logistics and strengthen environmental protection in the Arctic region.

This decision is not solely due to the recent obstruction of the China-Europe freight trains. The development and utilization of the Arctic shipping route have been discussed by the international community for several years. In recent years, with the continuous warming of the climate, conditions for developing the Arctic shipping route have emerged, and it has been re-raised on the agenda.

If the Arctic shipping route is opened, Chinese goods exported to Europe will not need to go through the Suez Canal anymore, greatly shortening the distance and time, and avoiding some geopolitical sensitive areas, thus reducing risks. Then, even if Poland closes the border crossings again, we will have multiple choices.

Of course, the real intention of Poland closing the border crossings is not to trouble the China-Europe freight trains. This issue is not directly related to us. It's just to bother Russia and Belarus, showing a tough stance.

But Poland's actions have indeed had a significant impact on the China-Europe freight trains. Moreover, Foreign Minister Wang Yi was not going empty-handed. We have shown sufficient sincerity, but Poland still refuses to allow passage for political reasons. That is their mistake.

We hope that Poland will look further ahead and not make self-defeating actions out of temporary anger. If the China-Europe freight trains do not resume operation, it's a small matter for the European market. But if it further damages Sino-Polish relations, it would be a loss.
