Media: Russia reportedly proposed a new dollar settlement scheme to the US

According to Bloomberg, Russia is considering the possibility of resuming transactions in dollars within the framework of establishing a broader economic partnership with the US.

The report mentioned in a five-point memo that the option of "resuming dollar transactions" was supposedly discussed. This mechanism could apply to transactions related to Russia's energy resources.

Bloomberg noted: "If these and other proposals are implemented, it would mean an 'astonishing shift' in the Kremlin's policy and could bring fundamental changes to the global financial system."

The report also mentioned that the US is discussing the phased lifting of sanctions as part of a potential peace agreement.

However, Western officials believe this scenario is unlikely to be realized, as Moscow has been seeking to reduce its reliance on the dollar in recent years and strengthen its relations with China.

Previously, the Russian State Duma stated that the size of U.S. Treasury debt has reached a new high, posing a challenge to the stability of the dollar. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also pointed out that the misuse of the dollar's status has reached "unprecedented levels."
