Korea-US Trade Agreement Faces Changes!

One day after the US President and South Korea announced a trade agreement, there were disagreements over the specific content of the tariff negotiations between the two countries. South Korea accused the United States of unilaterally increasing and changing the terms of the agreement. To ensure that the agreement reached by the heads of state on the 29th is not altered, the Yoon Suk-yeol government plans to release a list of the facts of the negotiations between the two sides.

US Commerce Secretary Rutenberg posted on the 30th introducing the detailed results of the tariff negotiation agreement reached between the president and Yoon Suk-yeol, stating that South Korea agreed to fully open their 100% market.

South Korea said that this negotiation did not include any content about opening the market: "South Korea has already opened the market for all American products, and there are no further changes in this agreement."

Kim Yong-bum, Director of the Policy Office of the South Korean Presidential Office, emphasized particularly that South Korea will not fully open the market for American agricultural products: "We have thoroughly defended the additional market opening for agricultural products, including sensitive items such as rice and beef. We have thoroughly defended further market opening in the agricultural sector and reached an agreement to strengthen cooperation and communication between the two countries in the inspection procedures."

In addition, Rutenberg stated that semiconductor tariffs are not part of this Korea-US agreement, which also shows a clear difference from the content published by South Korea.

There are always differences in the truth of the Korea-US agreement every time the negotiations end. South Korea is concerned that the US government's unilateral exaggeration of achievements will increase more uncertainties.
