China-Kazakhstan Connectivity: Railway freight volume between China and Kazakhstan will reach 100 million tons by 2027.
«Report of Kazinform» - The first Kazakhstan-China Transport Forum was held in the capital Astana on May 15th.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev said that last year, the railway freight volume between the two countries increased by 13%, reaching 32 million tons, setting a new historical record.
"After the second route from Dostyk to Moiyntau opens this year, the railway transportation capacity between the two countries will increase from the current level to 62 million tons. It is expected that after all projects are completed by the end of 2027, the freight volume will reach 100 million tons," he said.
In addition, the transport minister also talked about the current situation of cooperation in the field of transportation between the two countries.
"During President Tokayev's state visit to China, the two countries signed an intergovernmental agreement allowing free passage and mutual cross-border travel for vehicles from both countries. In the past two years, the transit volume through Kazakhstan from China has doubled," he said.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev and China's Minister of Transport Liu Wei attended today's forum.
In addition, more than 300 representatives from the business community, transportation logistics enterprises of the two countries participated in the event. During the forum, B2B and G2B meetings were organized.
Within the framework of the forum, Shandong Port Qingdao Port Group Co., Ltd. (SPG Qingdao Port Group Company Limited) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kuril Port of Kazakhstan.
