Chinese and Russian experts: China does not view Europe as a rival, but rather hopes to jointly maintain an equal and mutually beneficial trade relationship

China and the EU suspended resolving trade issues before the summit held at the end of July. This is one of the initial outcomes of the talks between the Chinese Foreign Minister in Brussels and Berlin. At the same time, the EU obviously does not want to give up its practice of lecturing China on its behavior in international affairs, which hinders the development of normal relations between the two sides.

Mei Xinyu, a member of the Board of the China Macroeconomic Society and a member of the China Land Economy Society, said in an interview with RIA Novosti: "Implementing export controls on rare earths is a choice that China has been forced to make due to the drastic changes in the international situation."

Boris Guseletov, a senior expert at the Federal Research Center for Social Surveys of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the uncertainty of resolving trade disputes before the China-EU summit was largely foreseeable.
