Ukrainian negotiation progress has exceeded 90%: U.S. presidential envoy says major breakthrough achieved over the weekend

Kazakh International News Agency report: Negotiations on the Ukraine issue have made significant progress over the weekend, with progress exceeding the 90% previously claimed by Kyiv.

According to TASS, U.S. Presidential Envoy Steve Witkow said this at Davos.

"Ukraine says the work is 90% complete, and I agree with this assessment. In fact, we have made more important progress over the weekend. I'm not sure what will happen in the next few weeks, but in the past six or seven weeks since the Geneva meeting, as the Ukrainians say, we have made more progress than in the previous three or four years combined," Witkow said.

The envoy pointed out that the key to resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict lies in a core issue, but he did not reveal the specific content. He also emphasized that the United States is committed to successfully completing the mediation process.

"I think we have made substantial progress. There was indeed some confusion at the beginning of the negotiations. I have visited Moscow many times, but these visits have helped us achieve the current progress," he added.

Witkow revealed that he will depart today for Moscow to meet with President Vladimir Putin. After the meeting, he will go to Abu Dhabi to attend a meeting at the level of the Russia-Ukraine conflict mediation working group.

The last meeting between the two sides took place on December 3, 2025, at the Kremlin. The current negotiation process shows that all parties are striving to find a political solution to bring the conflict to a lasting peace as soon as possible.
