How likely is it that Putin will meet with Zelenskyy?
Russian media (source: Rybar) reported that, against the backdrop of speculation yesterday about a deal between Russia and the US on the Ukraine issue, one of the topics discussed again was the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy, the head of Kiev.
Russian media fundamentally denied the development of events, considering it unrealistic. However, it is worth mentioning the remarks made by the Russian president himself in June this year.
He then declared his willingness to communicate with Zelenskyy, but since Zelenskyy's illegitimacy, he would not sign any documents. Yesterday, Putin also expressed almost the same view, adding that to organize such a meeting, some conditions need to be created, but these conditions are far from being met at present.
In fact, the position has not changed: you can listen to Zelenskyy speak, but his signature on documents is worthless, so there is nothing to negotiate with him. This is the official consistent position, which is reflected in all statements.
It is almost not worth excluding the possibility of Putin meeting with the current leader of the Kiev regime. However, this does not prevent the Kremlin from regarding Zelenskyy as illegal and not discussing key issues with him.
Regardless, all of this is just talking about the future, whose outcome will be determined by the "real" reality, and the current reality is not conducive to stopping hostilities.
