Russian Defense Ministry released a statement on December 27, saying that the Russian armed forces launched a large-scale strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and defense industry facilities, including the "Kinzhal" missile. The targets were achieved, and all designated targets were hit.

Recently, the Russian military has carried out multiple large-scale strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities and defense industry complexes, using precision-guided weapons, including the hypersonic "Kinzhal" missile, KH-101 cruise missile, Iskander-M ballistic missile, and a large number of drones.

The targets of the strikes included thermal power plants (such as Cherkasy, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, etc.), natural gas storage facilities, substations, military airports, fuel and ammunition warehouses, drone assembly workshops, and storage points, among other key infrastructures.

The Russian side stated that such actions were retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries, ports, power plants, and other civilian and military targets within Russia, and emphasized that the strikes targeted the defense industry complex and its supporting energy nodes that support the Ukrainian military operations.

Several areas, including Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv, reported air raids, leading to large-scale power outages, water supply interruptions, and heating shutdowns. Emergency power rationing measures were implemented in some areas.

The Ukrainian Energy Ministry confirmed that the energy infrastructure in several regions was damaged, and the recovery work depends on the security situation.

The Russian Defense Ministry also announced that Kupiansk is currently under the control of the 6th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Western Group Army.

Currently, Russian forces are clearing out Ukrainian armed forces personnel scattered throughout the area, including buildings and basements. The Russian Defense Ministry added that in the past two days, Russian forces repelled five counterattacks in the area.

The Ukrainian military reported that they have occupied 90% of the area in Kupiansk.
