The Philippine Armed Forces clearly stated on Tuesday that it will not get involved in political disputes.
This event occurred against the backdrop of Senator Imee Marcos recently publicly accusing her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., of using illegal drugs — a claim that has prompted certain sectors to once again call for the withdrawal of military support.
"The Philippine Armed Forces remains a professional, disciplined, and non-partisan institution. We do not participate in political disputes or accusations," said Acting spokesperson of the Philippine Armed Forces, Roy Vincent Trinidad, during a press conference at the Aguinaldo Camp in Quezon City.
"These issues should be resolved through legal and institutional mechanisms, rather than public confrontation," he said.
Amid all the political noise, Trinidad emphasized that the units of the Philippine Armed Forces continue to participate in humanitarian aid and disaster response operations nationwide.
