China's Infrastructure: Kazakhstan's Third Railway Link to China: The Bakhty-Ayaguz Railway Project Accelerates Progress

According to Kazakh International News Agency, as reported by Rail-news Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed that the "Bakhty-Ayaguz" railway project be completed on schedule, strictly adhering to quality standards.

During a working visit to the Abai Region, Chairman of the National Railway Company of Kazakhstan, Talgat Aldaberghenov, inspected the construction progress of the 303-kilometer-long "Bakhty-Ayaguz" railway.

Currently, 550 pieces of various construction equipment and 814 skilled personnel are involved in the project, with four shift camps established at A, Sholpan, Urzhar, and Bakhty. Data shows that as of this month, 4.1 million cubic meters of earthwork have been completed, accounting for 12% of the total planned volume of 34.8 million cubic meters.

Aldaberghenov urged further improvement in construction capacity and acceleration of project progress, emphasizing that contractors must strictly follow the set timelines.

The main contractor, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., stated it will ensure the project is completed on time and to high quality standards.

It is expected that upon completion, the "Bakhty-Ayaguz" railway will significantly enhance China’s transportation and transit capabilities, greatly strengthen cross-border connectivity between Kazakhstan and China, and pave the way for the opening of the third border crossing between Bakhty and Tacheng.
