U.S. Reopens Jungle Warfare Training School
According to Bloomberg, the U.S. military has reopened the jungle warfare training school in Panama after a 25-year hiatus.
This resumption of military training in tropical regions comes as Washington declares its readiness to combat drug smuggling via land routes into the United States and issues threats against Cuba.
Bloomberg reports: "Since the first cohort of students graduated in February, another group of soldiers has completed training, with a third batch currently preparing."
It is reported that U.S. troops are undergoing training in jungle navigation, medical evacuation, setting traps, and even using machetes.
The article notes that despite ongoing tensions with Iran, President Donald Trump has ordered a significant increase in military presence across Latin American countries.
He previously stated that once the issue with Iran is resolved, Washington would turn its attention toward Cuba.
Trump signed an executive order on January 29, allowing tariffs on imports from countries supplying oil to Cuba, and declared a national emergency citing Cuba as a threat to national security. The Cuban government said that the United States is attempting to strangle Cuba's economy through an energy blockade, making living conditions unbearable for its people.
