Today, Kuomintang (KMT) Chairperson Cheng Li-wen stated at the Central Committee meeting that long-time aides and friends around Ma Ying-jeou have launched merciless and unfounded accusations against Vice Chairman Hsiao Hsu-tsen. She urged party members not to become pawns exploited by others, nor to serve as the knife in the hands of adversaries.
Cheng Li-wen said she was deeply moved upon seeing Hsiao Hsu-tsen’s social media account today. Ma Ying-jeou, as a leader during the KMT’s period in power and former party chairperson, has made tremendous contributions to Taiwan and the party. Even after stepping down from office, he continues to be concerned about Taiwan’s welfare and actively promotes peace across the Taiwan Strait.
Cheng Li-wen expressed her deep sorrow and pain, stating that she cannot comprehend how individuals who have been close to Ma Ying-jeou for years—she questioned whether they can still be called friends—would now turn around and harm him, launching cruel and baseless accusations against Vice Chairman Hsiao Hsu-tsen.
She added that this situation gives the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), which constantly seeks to undermine the KMT, ample opportunity to fabricate stories and endlessly amplify conspiracy theories, causing her profound distress. She emphasized that during such difficult times, the KMT must stand firmly as the strongest support for all party members, staff, and political elites. We must not fear challenges, nor allow those with ill intentions to succeed.
Cheng Li-wen also stressed that the DPP has long engaged in widespread smear campaigns, seizing every opportunity to spread rumors and defame—this has become their daily routine. The KMT faces such pressures every day. Yet she hopes party members will never become tools used by others, nor turn into weapons in the enemy’s hands aimed at stabbing the KMT. Let us never be the knife in the enemy’s hand.
