According to Yonhap News Agency on November 17, the Republic of Korea Navy stated on the 17th that it will participate in the joint anti-submarine exercise named "Silent Shark" near Guam starting on the 18th, which will last for a month.
The report said that the Republic of Korea Navy will dispatch the 3,000-ton "Anmu" submarine and two P-3 maritime patrol aircraft, while the US Navy will dispatch submarines and P-8 maritime patrol aircraft. This is the first time that a self-developed and built submarine by South Korea has participated in a joint exercise abroad. During the joint exercise, the South Korean and US navies will conduct anti-submarine tracking and strike exercises, free attack and defense warfare, and air-based anti-submarine operations, to strengthen the joint maritime defense posture.
