South Korean media: BYD aims to export 1.3 million cars by 2026!

On February 23, the South Korean media "Global Economy" published an article stating that BYD has become the world's largest electric vehicle company and is accelerating its global expansion by significantly increasing overseas sales.

Li Yunfei, head of brand and public relations at BYD, recently announced at a press conference held in Shanghai that the company plans to sell 1.3 million vehicles in overseas markets outside China by 2026.

This figure represents an increase of about 25% compared to last year's overseas sales of 1.05 million units.

BYD's plan comes amid increasingly fierce competition in China's electric vehicle market and growing price pressures. In China, major automakers are engaged in intense price wars, which have increased profit pressures, and BYD also faces the pressure of slowing growth in the domestic market.

Therefore, BYD is strengthening its overseas market strategy in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Especially in countries such as the UK, Germany, Thailand, and Brazil, BYD is expanding the sales of its all-electric and plug-in hybrid models while establishing localized production and distribution networks.

BYD has announced a strategy to further increase the proportion of sales outside China in the medium to long term, citing the rapid growth of its brand awareness and overseas sales base. Bloomberg reported: "From BYD's perspective, as it seeks to widen the gap with competitors such as Tesla in the global electric vehicle market, overseas performance has become increasingly important."

If this overseas sales expansion strategy proceeds as planned, BYD's business structure is expected to move away from reliance on the domestic Chinese market and toward a more balanced global system.
