According to multiple media reports citing U.S. officials, one of the two crew members aboard the U.S. Air Force's dual-seat F-15E Strike Eagle fighter has been rescued, while the status and whereabouts of the second crew member remain unclear.
Although Iran claims to have shot down a newer F-35 aircraft, analysts say the imagery of the wreckage, including the ejection seat, is consistent with characteristics of the F-15 aircraft.
