One crew member of the U.S. military F-15E aircraft has been rescued, while the other remains missing.

According to multiple media reports citing U.S. officials, one of the two crew members aboard the U.S. Air Force's dual-seat F-15E Strike Eagle fighter has been rescued, while the status and whereabouts of the second crew member remain unclear.

Although Iran claims to have shot down a newer F-35 aircraft, analysts say the imagery of the wreckage, including the ejection seat, is consistent with characteristics of the F-15 aircraft.

U.S. media reports state that the second U.S. aircraft—a single-seat A-10 Thunderbolt II—successfully exited Iranian airspace before its pilot ejected and was rescued.
