China-Kazakhstan Cooperation: Kazakhstan and China to Jointly Explore Uranium Deposits in the Ili Basin

Kazinform reports that on June 16, during the "Central Asia-China" Industrial Investment Cooperation Forum held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, agreements were signed between both sides to pave the way for joint exploration of cross-border uranium resources.

According to the message released by the Kazakh National Investment Company Kazakh Invest, the Satpaev Geological Research Institute of Kazakhstan, the China University of Geosciences, the China Nuclear Geology Exploration Group Co., Ltd., and Xiamen Wanlishi Co., Ltd. have signed a framework agreement aimed at conducting joint research on transboundary mineral belts.

According to the content of the agreement, relevant parties will strive to incorporate the uranium belt located in the "Lower Ili Basin-Ili Valley" into the medium- and long-term cooperation plans of the two countries in the field of nuclear energy.
