Kazakhstan to Increase Oil Exports to China: It is unsafe for Kazakhstan to export oil westward to Europe, and it is planned to redirect some Kashagan crude oil to China.
Kazakh International News Agency - The Kazakh Ministry of Energy has decided to adjust the crude oil export routes from the Kashagan field (Sinopec holds a certain share - editor's note) in the near future. Due to recent attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) infrastructure, some crude oil will be redirected to China for export.
According to official sources, although this incident affected part of the maritime terminal facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium in Novorossiysk Port, exports have not been completely interrupted, and loading operations continue under existing port infrastructure with security measures in place.
"Currently, the Ministry of Energy is conducting emergency coordination with the shipping parties to redistribute the volume of crude oil exports, including redirecting some Kashagan crude oil to China. The Ministry is maintaining full monitoring of the situation," said the Ministry of Energy.
It is worth noting that on November 29 at 06:06 Astana time, remote-controlled water vehicles attacked the offshore infrastructure near Novorossiysk of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, causing serious damage to the second offshore mooring unit (VPU-2). After the incident, the Kazakh government placed the relevant situation under focused attention.
Subsequently, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry submitted an official protest regarding this incident on November 30.
Additionally, during the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Koshymbayev had a brief meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, and both sides also discussed the situation related to the attack on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Kazakhstan stated that it will continue to maintain communication on this issue within the framework of diplomatic channels.
