【By Observer Net, Zhang Jingjuan】China News Network report, after several months of US-EU trade tug-of-war, the conflict temporarily came to an end this week at the cost of a significant EU concession.
The new trade agreement between the two sides has successfully put a temporary halt to the escalation of the trade war, but it also became a topic of discussion for White House officials in the United States. Sebastian Gorka, senior advisor on counter-terrorism affairs at the U.S. National Security Council and a Trump advisor, said on the "Rob Schmitte Tonight Show" program that the EU had actually "bent at the knee," submitting to Trump.
Gorka stated that this new agreement would not only bring unprecedented tariff revenue to the United States, but also represent a victory in the geopolitical struggle with the EU, calling it a historic moment.
"Even people who have known (President Trump) for ten years, like myself, find it hard to believe that the entire EU would submit to the 'America First' policy, saying, 'Okay, we won't be freeloading anymore. We won't use the global trading system anymore. President Trump, you win, we are willing to accept 15% tariffs.' Gorka said.
He believes that it was Trump's tariff policies that forced the EU to submit to American economic leadership. The latest trade victory proves the rationality of the 'America First' policy.
Gorka added, "Those so-called 'experts' told us that the president's tariff policies would cause stock market crashes and lead us back into a depression. But what you see now is the victory of common sense, the successful practice of the 'America First' policy."
He claimed that the facts have proven that Trump's tough style has achieved actual results that experts could not foresee.
He also revealed that he has repeatedly told his colleagues in the U.S. government, "If you don't understand that President Trump is driving a major geopolitical change with global impact, which will change the world for the next 50 to 100 years, then you're a fool."

According to the new trade agreement reached by the U.S. and Europe on the 27th, both sides confirmed that the baseline tariff for the U.S. on Europe would be 15%. In addition, the EU will increase investments in the U.S. by 60 billion dollars, and the EU will also purchase U.S. military equipment and U.S. energy products worth 75 billion dollars. Some foreign media pointed out that although the U.S. and Europe have reached an agreement on tariff rates, there are discrepancies in the wording regarding two key issues, drugs and steel and aluminum, and the implementation of the agreement may still have uncertainties.
Despite European Commission President von der Leyen trying to give herself credit, claiming that the 15% tariff level was the best result that could be achieved, the European public did not buy it.
Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán criticized during a podcast program, stating that the U.S.-Europe agreement was not a victory, but a failure, and von der Leyen failed to secure favorable trade terms for the EU. "This is not a deal reached between Trump and von der Leyen, but rather Trump ate von der Leyen for breakfast."
French Prime Minister Barnier called the agreement "the von der Leyen-Trump agreement." He criticized on the social platform "X," "When a union of free people stands together to defend common values and interests, and finally chooses to submit, it is undoubtedly a dark day."
Similarly dissatisfied with the agreement is German Chancellor Mertz. In his view, the new agreement will severely damage the German economy, and the 15% tariff is a "heavy burden." He firmly believes these tariffs will also harm the United States and exacerbate American inflation.
Although Italian Prime Minister Meloni tried to describe the agreement as a positive development, former Italian Prime Minister and Five Star Movement leader Conte (Giuseppe Conte) sarcastically said, "There is one winner - U.S. President Trump, and there are two losers, or more accurately, two: the EU and Meloni."
