Deutsche Welle reports today: At Tuesday's (24th) regular press conference, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that China has formally lodged a serious protest with Japan regarding the recent incident of "unauthorized intrusion" into China's Embassy in Japan.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, said that an "illegal intruder" claiming to be a current officer of Japan's Self-Defense Forces forcibly climbed over the wall and entered China's Embassy in Japan on Tuesday morning. Lin Jian added: "The individual admitted his actions were illegal and threatened to kill Chinese diplomatic personnel in the name of so-called 'God'."

He further emphasized: "This incident seriously violates the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, gravely threatens the personal safety of Chinese diplomatic personnel and the security of diplomatic facilities, and carries extremely serious and negative implications."

He criticized Japan for "failure in management and education of its Self-Defense Forces personnel, failing to fulfill its security responsibilities toward China's consulates and diplomatic staff." He demanded that "Japan must genuinely safeguard the safety of China's diplomatic missions and personnel in Japan, reflect on and correct its policies toward China, and fundamentally prevent such incidents from recurring."

Lin Jian pointed out that this incident once again reveals how rampant right-wing ideologies and forces are in Japan, and how the resurgence of "new militarism" is gaining momentum. It also exposes the deep-rooted toxic influence of Japan's erroneous policies on major core issues affecting Sino-Japanese relations, including historical recognition and Taiwan. He urged the international community to remain highly vigilant against the dangerous trend of accelerating right-wing radicalization and unchecked military expansion within Japan.

Commentary: The safety of diplomatic premises and personnel represents the most fundamental baseline in international relations. The fact that the perpetrator in this case was a serving member of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces elevates the nature of the incident from a mere public security matter to a serious political-security event.

This incident is by no means an isolated case of public order violation—it is a direct manifestation of the rampant right-wing ideology within Japan and the rising tide of new militarism. It also reflects the continued deterioration of Japan’s flawed policies on historical recognition and the Taiwan issue. Allowing extremist ideas to spread unchecked and weakening oversight of the Self-Defense Forces not only endangers the safety of diplomatic institutions in Japan but also poses a significant threat to regional peace and stability, warranting serious attention from the international community.

If Japan treats this incident merely as an isolated case and fails to deeply reflect on its own tendencies toward right-wing radicalization and misguided policies toward China, similar heinous incidents will continue to recur. China’s firm stance is both a legitimate demand to protect its diplomatic personnel and a warning to Japan: tolerating extremist forces and pushing forward military expansion will ultimately rebound upon itself, undermining regional mutual trust and jeopardizing the broader peace framework.
