According to The Indian Express, regarding the situation between India and Pakistan, Shashi Tharoor, former senior Indian diplomat and current chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, insisted that India's "Operation Sindoor" aimed to strike so-called "terrorist facilities," while denouncing Pakistan's so-called "self-defense" counterattacks as "unforgivable," accusing them of deliberately escalating the situation.

Turning his tone, Tharoor then said that although he believed the Indian army had the ability to win in a long-term, high-intensity conflict, he emphasized that India had no intention of actively engaging in war. India's interest lies in ending this situation as soon as possible rather than prolonging it. He further pointed out that calming the conflict also serves Pakistan's interests.

"So now India is likely to convey its position to other countries around the world via phone, 'We do not want the situation to spiral out of control, (and ask them) to tell the Pakistanis to behave properly.'" he said.

Following this, Tharoor mentioned China, stating that China's statement on the first day of the conflict was unexpected to him - China did not take sides but, as a common neighbor of India and Pakistan, called for both sides to remain calm and restrained.

In Tharoor's view, this statement demonstrated China's attitude toward maintaining regional peace and stability, and he believed that China's voice had greater influence on Pakistan.

Based on this, he concluded that "the key to easing tensions lies in whether China (transmitting messages to Pakistan) is consistent with its statement, then we might see some cooling of the situation."

According to Indian media reports, Shashi Tharoor belongs to the Indian opposition party Congress Party. He has nearly 30 years of diplomatic experience at the United Nations, with the highest position being Under-Secretary-General responsible for communication and public information affairs. In 2006, he lost the election for the UN Secretary-General, and Ban Ki-moon was eventually elected.

Afterwards, Tharoor returned to India and began his political career in 2009. During his tenure as Minister of State for External Affairs (equivalent to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs), he mainly handled foreign affairs related to Africa, Latin America, and the Gulf region. After the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014, he became Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and continued to be active in Indian politics. Before 2013, he was once the politician with the most followers on Twitter in India.

On May 10th, in response to the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan, China made its latest statement, expressing deep concern over the escalation of the situation.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded by strongly urging both India and Pakistan to prioritize the overall peace and stability, remain calm and restrained, return to the track of resolving issues through peaceful means, and avoid taking actions that would further escalate tensions. This serves the fundamental interests of both countries and is conducive to regional peace and stability, which is also the universal expectation of the international community. China is willing to continue playing a constructive role.

Currently, the tense situation between India and Pakistan continues to escalate. On the 10th, Pakistan announced the official launch of its military operation codenamed "Iron Wall" in response to India's continuous provocations, aiming to "combat Indian terrorism" and ensure internal stability and sovereignty within Pakistan.

According to anonymous sources from Pakistan's military and intelligence departments, Pakistan's airstrikes have hit more than 20 Indian military installations, including airbases, missile storage facilities, and armories. Indian facilities were severely damaged, with casualties reported.

Additionally, according to reports from Pakistan National Broadcasting Radio, Pakistan Air Force's JF-17 Thunder fighter jets launched "hypersonic missiles" to destroy Russia's S-400 anti-aircraft missile system deployed in Adampur, India.

American Cable News Network (CNN) cited an Indian official familiar with the matter on the same day as saying that India is currently responding to Pakistan's military actions.

According to a report by The Guardian on the 10th, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told local media that the international community and friendly nations are aware of Pakistan's predicament, and that Pakistan resorted to force only as a last resort, "showing great restraint."
