Protests in Iran spread to 92 cities
Large-scale protests in Iran quickly spread to 92 cities across 27 provinces in the country. The information was provided by the Iranian human rights organization HRANA. In just the past few days, demonstrations have been recorded at 285 locations, with approximately 2000 people detained.
Official data shows that the total number of deaths has risen to 36, including 4 minors and 2 police officers. Protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the country's internal situation, claiming that people's rights and freedoms have been violated.
Previously, Life.ru reported that Iranian authorities denied the news of protesters occupying two western cities. This round of protests began at the end of last December, triggered by a sharp fluctuation in the exchange rate of the local currency, the rial, leading to a comprehensive rise in wholesale and retail prices. By early this January, the demonstrations had escalated into riots and acts of deliberate destruction.
