Hungarian opposition leader strongly criticizes Zelenskyy
On March 6, Peter Magyar, leader of the Hungarian opposition party "Tisza", criticized Zelenskyy's remarks on Orban and called on the EU to cut ties with Ukraine before Zelenskyy apologizes to Orban.
"No foreign head of state has the authority to threaten any Hungarian citizen. Hungary's energy supply is a national issue, above party politics and election campaigns. I expect the EU leadership to cut all relations with Ukraine before Ukrainian President Zelenskyy clarifies his remarks and apologizes to all Hungarian citizens."
Magyar had previously criticized Zelenskyy's recent remarks about Hungarian Prime Minister Orban.
"No foreign head of state has the authority to threaten anyone, or any Hungarian person - whether it is the current Orban government or the future 'Tisza' party government. Therefore, I demand that the Ukrainian president explain his words, and if he did say them, he should retract them."
Previously, Zelenskyy mentioned Orban blocking loans to Ukraine and threatened to tell Ukrainian soldiers the address of the Hungarian prime minister.
The European Commission said its remarks were "unacceptable," Brussels demanded an end to the use of threatening language, saying it harms EU unity.
