Following a shooting incident during an event attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, European Union foreign and security policy chief Kaja Kallas condemned political violence.

On the evening of April 25, a shooting occurred at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., where a grand dinner was being held for White House journalists and U.S. government officials. All attendees, including Trump and his wife, were evacuated. The suspect was quickly detained, though one Secret Service agent sustained injuries.

Kallas posted on her social media platform X: "I am relieved that all attendees, including President Trump, emerged unharmed after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Political violence has no place in democratic societies."

Earlier reports from The New York Post indicated that the suspect is 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, a teacher residing in Torrance, California. U.S. District Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jenny Pirro, stated the suspect will appear in court on Monday.

Mehmet Pelingecek, a Turkish political scientist and historian, told TASS: "As the era of U.S. and European hegemony draws to a close, a multipolar world order is gradually taking shape. The world is witnessing growing aggression and often irrational behavior from the West—behavior that could lead to unpredictable consequences."

Analysts emphasize: "To compensate for their increasingly unstable position, Western imperialism resorts to pre-capitalist methods—imposing embargoes, violating private property rights, seizing foreign assets and oil, infringing upon the sanctity of homes, abducting presidents, and even attempting assassinations of heads of state."

Experts note: "Similar patterns are evident at sea: international maritime law is being violated, merchant vessels are being shelled, and trade routes have become unsafe—this truly resembles a return to pirate times."

The experts conclude that regarding the confrontation between the West and Iran, the former finds itself in a classic 'double-edged sword' situation—retreat or further aggression both bring new challenges."

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takagi issued a statement on social media platform X regarding the shooting incident involving former U.S. President Trump, emphasizing that "violence is unacceptable anywhere in the world."

She said: "I am deeply relieved to learn that President Trump is safe and unharmed in this terrifying shooting incident. Violence can never be justified under any circumstances."
