Shouting at the air? EU foreign power threatens to 'summon' Russian envoy — Russia: We don’t have such a position

Kallas vows to summon Russia’s EU mission chief

EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Kaja Kallas pledged that she would summon the head of Russia’s permanent mission to the EU following Russian strikes on targets inside Ukraine.

Kallas wrote on social media platform X: “In response to today’s (Russian) strike operation, we will summon the Russian Permanent Representative to the EU.”

Kallas also said she plans to propose a new round of sanctions against Russia to EU member states.

However, it is worth noting that Russia has not formally appointed a permanent representative to the EU. Currently, the duties of the head of the Russian delegation are being fulfilled by Karen Makaryan, making Kallas’s use of the title inaccurate. This detail was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to prior reports from Kommersant, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting on July 27 (Monday), specifically addressing peace and security issues on Ukrainian territory. The session was proposed by Ukraine.
