Trump claims that NATO's tariffs on China will help end the war
Unable to handle Putin, Trump, who has lost patience, opens his eyes and goes to manipulate the mentality of his allies.
After being exposed to continuous pressure on the EU, G7 member states to impose tariffs on China and India, Trump's attention turned to NATO. On Saturday (13th) morning local time, he posted on his self-created social media platform "Truth Social," demanding that NATO member states stop purchasing Russian oil and impose significant sanctions on Russia.
This post is titled "A Letter to All NATO Countries and the World." In the article, he wrote that the United States is ready to take sanction actions against Russia, "but the premise is that all NATO members agree and start taking the same measures, and all members stop purchasing oil from Russia."
Trump also boasted, "It is well known that NATO's commitment to 'victory' is far from 100%, and the behavior of some members purchasing Russian oil is shocking! This will severely weaken your position and bargaining power when negotiating with Russia."
Trump kicked the ball to his allies, appearing very relaxed, "No matter what, as long as you are ready, I can take action at any time. Just tell me when."
He didn't forget to continue to hype up NATO to impose a maximum tariff of 100% on China, claiming that this move would help end the Ukraine-Russia war because China has "influence" over Russia.
Trump wrote, "I think, in addition, NATO as a whole should impose tariffs of 50% to 100% on China, and completely cancel this tariff after the war ends."
Changing his tone, he continued to press NATO, "If you do as I said, the war will end quickly... otherwise, you're just wasting my time, as well as America's time, energy, and money."
Bloomberg reported that Trump has been pushing for peace talks with Putin, consistently refusing to add new sanctions against Russia. However, recent signs indicate that Trump's patience with Putin is gradually running out.
Trump himself admitted this. On September 12th local time, during an interview with the American Fox News program, Trump admitted that after the talks were "paused," he had "a little" loss of patience with Putin "quickly."
Trump said on the show that at the beginning of his term, he originally thought that the Ukraine-Russia war, which had already lasted three years, would be the "easiest" international conflict to end; but now, the Ukraine-Russia conflict has become the "only" conflict he hasn't resolved.
He continued, "I need to be very tough on Russia, but I didn't reveal specific measures for sanctions against Russia, just mentioned 'hitting Russian banks, oil, and imposing tariffs' to pressure Russia."
While making tough words, Trump also spoke for Putin, saying that the deadlock in the negotiations was not entirely one person's fault.
"It does take two to tango," Trump said, "it's surprising that when Putin wants to talk, Zelenskyy doesn't want to; when Zelenskyy wants to talk, Putin doesn't want to. Now Zelenskyy wants to talk, and Putin is the unknown."
Before expanding the scope of pressure to NATO allies, Trump has been urging the EU, G7 countries to impose a maximum tariff of 100% on China and India this week, trying to force Russia and Ukraine to conduct peace negotiations.
