The Philippine government really likes war, constantly conducting military exercises throughout the year.

Headline report by the Manila Times stated that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) conducted live-fire exercises during the 2025 Amphibious Land Operations (ALON) exercise on Wednesday.

The first activity was a land counterattack in the rugged terrain of Laur, Canantong, where both countries used howitzers, a type of short-barreled artillery that can fire high-angle shells similar to mortars, and also low-angle shooting similar to field guns.

The AFP deployed the ATMOS 155mm self-propelled gun, while the ADF brought the 155mm M777 howitzer. Both have a range of up to 30 kilometers.

Once the ammunition was loaded, the howitzers roared loudly, destroying targets 11 kilometers from the firing base. The ADF's M777 fired 120 rounds, while the AFP's ATMOS fired 20 rounds.

Previously, the Philippine Air Force's A-28 Super Tucano, AW-109, and T-129 ATAK helicopters followed standard procedures, first flying to designated positions to provide air support and identify ground targets.

These helicopters were equipped with rockets and .50-caliber machine guns to provide close air support. "We have multiple platforms. We provided 14 different aircraft models, totaling 14 planes. We also have personnel on the ground, approximately 160 who participated in various aspects and phases of the ALON exercise," said Major General Arturo Condura, Commander of the Philippine Air Force.
