Although Beijing is shifting from pursuing scale to emphasizing efficiency, quality, and orderly growth, renewable energy remains at the core of its climate and energy strategy. The plan aims to achieve a total installed capacity of over 2.8 billion kilowatts for solar and wind power by 2030 (1.84 billion kilowatts by 2025), at which point renewables will account for more than half of total installed capacity and over 30% of power generation, fulfilling China's commitment to peak carbon emissions by 2030.
