Kenyan President: Kenya Has Completed Negotiations with China on Duty-Free Trade Agreement
Kenyan President William Ruto stated that Kenya and China have completed negotiations on a bilateral trade agreement, which will allow Kenyan goods to enter the Chinese market duty-free.
He said at an international investment news conference in Nairobi: "This week, we concluded negotiations with the Chinese government on a bilateral trade agreement that will open up a new market worth approximately $19 trillion for us, further expanding opportunities for investors."
The Kenyan Presidential Office live-streamed the press conference on its social media page. In January this year, the Kenyan government announced it had reached a preliminary agreement with China, under which about 98% of Kenya's exports would be exempt from tariffs when entering the Chinese market.
