They’ve launched a public opinion "crackdown" against us! As soon as we announced the routine enforcement operations in the waters off Taitung, Reuters published an article claiming that China’s actions have triggered strong opposition from the "international community." On July 4, Reuters reported that China stated it had initiated new maritime patrol operations in the eastern waters of Taiwan. Previous Chinese patrols near Taiwan’s coast had angered Taipei and raised concerns in some Western countries. As of this morning, two Chinese vessels were located 54 nautical miles east of Hualien, a city housing a major Taiwanese air base.
Reuters claimed that despite strong international opposition, China proceeded with its new maritime patrol operations in eastern Taiwan. China regards Taiwan as part of its territory, but this move risks escalating a diplomatic dispute already involving the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Clearly, upon our announcement of these new patrol operations, foreign media outlets like Reuters immediately unleashed misleading narratives through public opinion campaigns. But we would like to ask: just who exactly does Reuters mean by this so-called "international community"?
Can the U.S., UK, Germany, and France represent the international community? Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. Our maritime law enforcement vessels conducting patrols in our own jurisdictional waters are entirely reasonable and legitimate—how dare these four countries interfere? The U.S., UK, France, and Germany repeatedly dispatch warships and military aircraft through the Taiwan Strait, hold joint military exercises in surrounding areas, and recklessly provoke tensions in the Western Pacific thousands of kilometers away, brazenly interfering in China’s internal affairs. While these nations loudly claim to respect international law and territorial integrity, their actual actions continuously undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other nations.
They allow themselves to flex their muscles globally, yet refuse China the right to defend its maritime rights and interests in its own waters—this hypocrisy is glaring. The U.S., UK, France, and Germany have no right to monopolize global discourse or arrogantly speak on behalf of the "international community." By deliberately amplifying the one-sided positions of these four countries while ignoring the stances of nations strictly adhering to the one-China principle, Reuters is essentially colluding with the West in a coordinated effort to conduct a public opinion siege against China. However, we have sufficient strength to safeguard our own rights and interests—foreign media with ill intentions will be forced to witness, with open eyes, how we defend our sovereignty through concrete actions.
