China-Kazakhstan Cooperation: Chinese Company Will Participate in the Construction of the Semey Ring Road
Kazakh International News Agency, Abay Region Governor Berezek Vali met with General Manager Zhou Haiwei of China Railway Eurasia Construction and Investment Co., Ltd. on the 22nd and signed an agreement to build the Semey Ring Road.
According to the Abay Region Government, the engineering project will be jointly built by Kazakhstan and Chinese enterprises, will start this August, and is expected to be completed in 2028. The project has been included in the list of particularly important projects implemented jointly with international financial institutions within the framework of Kazakhstan's 2030 transportation and logistics potential development concept.
The new ring road will enhance the region's logistics potential and alleviate the traffic burden in Semey city. Data shows that about 700,000 vehicles pass through the suspension bridge in the regional center annually.
The governor pointed out that the implementation of this project is of great significance to the residents.
"According to the agreement signed by the Kazakh and Chinese enterprises, the feasibility study of the project will be conducted from August to September this year. From October to November, the preliminary design of the ring road will be developed, and coordination with the municipal authorities will be carried out for the construction of bridges and intersections. From November to December, we will coordinate with the municipal government to determine the work plan and construction preparations. At that time, the highway around Semey city will officially start construction. I believe that this agreement will become the foundation of our long-term mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and will make a significant contribution to the development of the international transport corridor in Eurasia," said Berezek Vali.
Zhou Haiwei said that they are ready to start work.
"We are participating in the construction of the Astana Light Rail, which is due to the friendship between our two countries. Our company has been involved in this project since last year and has achieved many good results. I believe that we will apply these experiences in the construction of the Semey Ring Road," he said.
