On the same day, Putin participated in the "All for Victory" forum and said, "Gudkov died on the battlefield on July 2. He was a true Russian officer, who had been involved in the special military operation from the beginning. He had previously commanded the legendary 155th Independent Marine Infantry Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, which had gained glory in the most arduous battles in the most important regions."
"Hero of Russia" is the highest honor title that the Russian people can receive, awarded to those who have made outstanding and brave actions or deeds for the country. The Golden Star Medal is awarded together with this title.
This was the second time that Gudkov received the Golden Star Medal. Before his death, in autumn 2023, he was awarded the title of "Hero of Russia" and the Golden Star Medal for his "bravery, heroism, and outstanding command of his subordinates." TASS stated that it was the first time in modern Russian history that a person received two Golden Star Medals.
