WSJ: UAE Prepares to Join Military Operation to Force Open Strait of Hormuz by Force
According to sources from The Wall Street Journal, the UAE is ready to join a military operation aimed at forcibly reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
UAE diplomats are calling on the United States, Europe, and Asia to form a coalition to reopen the strait and are pushing for a United Nations Security Council resolution that would authorize such actions.
The operation could involve clearing naval mines from waterways, escorting oil tankers, and even seizing strategic islands—specifically the Iranian island of Abu Musa, which the UAE claims sovereignty over.
The UAE has a deep-water port and military base at Jebel Ali near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, which would support any island seizure operation.
Iran has launched nearly 2,500 missiles and drones toward the UAE—a number unmatched in the region. On just March 31, approximately 50 missiles struck UAE territory.
