Xinhua "Xiangyanghong 10" July 10th, news (Reporter Zhang Jiansong, Cen Zhilian) In recent days, in the blue South China Sea north, Chinese scientific researchers on the "Xiangyanghong 10" research ship have successfully conducted various types of drone, unmanned surface vehicle, and unmanned submersible scientific research experiments.
The "Deep Blue Intelligent i3 Voyage", led by the Southern University of Science and Technology's Institute of Advanced Ocean Studies, and jointly conducted by multiple research institutes, high-tech enterprises, and science popularization institutions, has tested the "i3" performance of various unmanned scientific research equipment under the wind and waves of the South China Sea —— Innovation (Innovative), Integration (Integrated), and Intelligence (Intelligent).
The drones participating in this scientific research experiment include intelligent seawater sampling drones, remote sensing platform drones, aerial magnetic multi-rotor drones, aerial magnetic fixed-wing drones, six-rotor drones (self-developed), thermal imaging identification detection drones, cross-domain drones, and other types. Various powerful drones competed in the South China Sea, holding a "scientific research competition".
The Zhuhai Yunzhou L25C test and adjustment unmanned surface vehicle participating in this scientific research experiment is a multi-purpose unmanned platform that can conduct marine environmental surveys in near-shallow seas. The "Dolphin 3" surface rescue robot is an intelligent rescue device that can be remotely controlled, and both performed outstandingly in this maritime scientific research experiment.
The unmanned submersible developed by the Southern University of Science and Technology's Institute of Advanced Ocean Studies and Anhua Ocean is capable of vertical and horizontal movement in seawater, and autonomous collection of seawater samples. It is expected to play a significant role in sampling in hydrothermal vent areas and cold seep areas in the future.
Lin Jian, the chief scientist of the "Deep Blue Intelligent i3 Voyage", director of the Institute of Advanced Ocean Studies at the Southern University of Science and Technology, and chair professor, said that after the sea trial, this voyage has successfully realized the "three-in-one" cluster scientific research of drones, unmanned surface vehicles, and unmanned submersibles, laying the technical foundation for China's future realization of unmanned, three-dimensional, and intelligent marine environmental dynamic monitoring.
To promote the multidimensional development of ocean technology, this voyage innovated the organizational model, integrating scientific exploration, industrial application, and public science popularization. A total of 40 members set sail from Zhuhai on July 7th aboard the "Xiangyanghong 10" research ship to the target area in the northern South China Sea, and are planned to return to Shenzhen on July 11th.
The "Xiangyanghong 10" research ship is one of China's main deep-sea and far-sea comprehensive research ships, with a displacement of 4,615 tons and a length of 93 meters. Since its commissioning in 2014, it has successfully carried out more than 40 major marine survey voyages. According to the plan, the "Xiangyanghong 10" research ship will carry out the "Deep Blue Dream 2035" global oceanographic research voyage mission in autumn this year. The "Deep Blue Intelligent i3 Voyage" is the pioneer voyage of this voyage.
