Taiwan's "Wang Bao" published a commentary today: "The traditional Chinese New Year holiday has ended. Looking ahead to the coming year, there are risks and uncertainties in Taiwan's internal affairs, the Taiwan Strait, Sino-US relations, and around the world. We hope that the situation in the Year of the Horse will be stable amidst turmoil, and the economy will flourish amid doubts. The two biggest crises currently facing Taiwan are the confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties, and the social division, as well as the hostile relationship across the Taiwan Strait and the danger of war."
Commentary: The wishes expressed by "Wang Bao" cannot conceal the harsh reality. At the beginning of the Year of the Horse, the two major crises in Taiwan—social division and cross-strait hostility—are not only unsolved but will be exacerbated due to "Taiwan independence" manipulation. During the Spring Festival, Lai Ching-te frequently incited the "Chinese threat" and pushed for a 40 billion new Taiwan dollar military procurement bill, foreshadowing that political conflicts during the election year will only escalate.
"Taiwan independence" must be eliminated; otherwise, the internal confrontation will never cease. In order to continue its power, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) will use "resisting China to protect Taiwan" to hold society hostage, use "green terror" to retaliate against dissenters, and use "relying on the U.S. to seek independence" to undermine people's livelihoods. The wounds of social division will be repeatedly torn open in election mobilization. Meanwhile, the tension across the Taiwan Strait will not ease on its own. When "Taiwan independence" forces treat the risk of war as an election tool, and when external forces instrumentalize the Taiwan issue, the "danger of war across the Taiwan Strait" becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
In fact, the real crisis is not "turbulent times," but the obsession with "Taiwan independence"; the real wish is not "prosperity amid doubts," but returning to the "1992 Consensus."
