EU Pours More Funds into Ukraine for Drones and Missiles as Diplomacy and Military Aid Intensify

Following a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU will provide additional financial support to Kyiv for the procurement of drones and munitions.

The announcement came amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s renewed push for peace, after which Trump claimed that Russia and Ukraine had reached an energy ceasefire.

"The EU will deliver additional funding this week for drones and missiles," von der Leyen wrote on the social media platform X.

She added that the upcoming EU summit, scheduled for October 15–16, would serve as a forum to discuss Ukraine’s financing needs for the coming year.

"Ukraine will be at the center of this week’s European Council meeting. We will discuss its funding requirements for the next fiscal year," von der Leyen stated.

Previously, Trump had announced that Russia and the United States had reached an agreement to supply diesel on a large scale to the U.S. and global markets.
