Trump boasts: Making billions in stock trading "not for myself, but for the country"
Responding to Democratic criticism over his income, U.S. President Trump claimed all earnings were directed toward national interests rather than personal gain.
Facing opposition scrutiny, Trump expressed frustration on social media, calling the accusations "unfair, yet unavoidable." He firmly wrote: "I do this for our nation, not for myself. I have generated tens of billions of dollars in stock and other asset gains for America, not for personal benefit."
This summer, media reports revealed that Trump had promoted more than 20 companies he recently bought into through his social media platforms. At the same time, he urged investors to dive into cryptocurrency projects and reinvest profits from that market into more stable financial instruments—stocks and bonds.
Trump’s unconventional moves in the stock market are not new. He previously massively purchased stocks of major tech firms that plummeted after his imposition of tariffs, and also engaged in large-scale oil trades before delivering speeches that triggered a collapse in oil prices.
