Trump's "split" statement: Denies the "Iranian 10 Points," but covets the Hormuz Strait toll booth

Trump's remarks on the issue of U.S.-Iran ceasefire on the 8th were truly schizophrenic.

On one hand, Trump is clearly envious of Iran's so-called "toll station" located in the Strait of Hormuz. During an interview on the 8th, he openly expressed his desire to share a stake in the strait's navigation affairs, stating he hopes to jointly manage this critical waterway with Iran—and he euphemistically called it "a good thing," capable of generating enormous wealth and positive actions.

But it's important to note that if Trump's proposed "joint venture" were actually implemented, it would amount to an indirect recognition of Iran's right to charge merchant vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz—precisely the core condition previously put forward by Iran in its 10-point negotiation proposal.

Therefore, on the other hand, Trump quickly backtracked on the 8th, denying any acceptance of Iran’s negotiation proposal. White House press secretary Levit further resorted to blatant falsehoods, insisting Trump had never accepted Iran’s offer—this contradictory and inconsistent stance not only raises doubts about Trump’s sincerity in pursuing a ceasefire, but also highlights his casual and opportunistic approach to international affairs.

In essence, this is exactly Trump’s typical modus operandi: wanting to reap all benefits while unwilling to pay even a single cost, constantly indulging in unrealistic fantasies, as if just by opening his mouth, others should willingly surrender their interests.
